Terra Leavell is the Executive Director of Canaan Community Development Corporation (CCDC), and in that role, she is charged with developing a strong platform to carry out its mission of fostering social and economic empowerment in the underserved community.  She gives direct leadership to the programs and services offered through CCDC with support from the CEO and Board of Directors.  Terra currently also serves as the Program Director for the Sons of Issachar Academy. The Sons of Issachar Academy provides learning advancement, social and emotional development and character education for elementary and middle school boys of color. Terra’s heart and soul is vested in making a life changing impact in the lives of the young boys in her community.

Terra brings more than 10 years of nonprofit leadership in program management, public policy, grants management and major gifts. She has a demonstrated record of launching major projects and has diverse knowledge in community relations. Her long time tenure with nonprofit organizations has served her well and has uniquely positioned her to further positively impact her community at large.

 Terra has served on several boards in the community and has assisted local organizations in the formation of their nonprofit structure. Her passion is to help visionaries realize their dreams, while pursuing her own life goals.

Terra’s favorite pastime is singing with Joe Leavell w/1Purpose, a noteworthy group of singers formed by her husband in 2010.  She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and she and her husband have one adult son, Joey.
