Rev. Mark Gaskins

Oakland

Co-Founder, The Village Method (TVM)

For nearly twenty years, Rev. Mark Gaskins (affectionately called “Brother Mark”) has dedicated himself to being a community servant and has actively mentored Black youth, engaged families, and established collaborative partnerships with school administrators, city officials, law enforcement, local clergy, and businesses. He has demonstrated experience in nonprofit management, finance, organizational development, and operations.

His father has been the pastor of Bethel Baptist Church of Union City, CA for over 35 years and has been the authentic example of servant leadership that guides Brother Mark. He has exhibited a commitment for Black youth and families as a strategic advocate combined with 10+ years experience in consulting global organizations in the evaluation, purchase, and implementation of enterprise software. In 2014, Brother Mark expanded his commitment alongside his wife by founding a grassroots organization called The Village Method (TVM). Their mission is to make Black youth unstoppable during their academic journey and pursuit of life-long happiness.

His skillset has proven to be invaluable in moving the organization to the next level of partnerships and collaborations throughout the Northern California. He’s been married to his high school crush for 15 years, is a loving father of three beautiful children, a devoted community leader, and an impactful champion in the lives of Black youth and families. One of his favorite quotes is from Frederick Douglass who said, "It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men".
