Dr. Tasha Alston

Social Worker, Educational Psychologist

Dr. Tasha Alston is a social worker and educational psychologist with over 18 years of experience in the field of social work and educational psychology. Dr. Alston completed her doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Georgia located in Athens, Georgia. Dr. Alston also earned her master’s degree in social work from Clark Atlanta University located in Atlanta, Georgia and her bachelor’s degree in social work from Siena College located in Loudonville, New York. 

Dr. Alston’s research interests combine both social work and educational psychology. Dr. Alston specializes in research and community work that focuses on African American fathers involvement in education, African American males, fathers, academic achievement, equity in education, parent engagement, parent involvement, school, family and community partnerships, strengthening families, qualitative research, equity and social justice for the betterment of society as a whole. 

Dr. Alston is passionate about working to support African American fathers, African American males, parents, families, and youth with the support and resources they need to thrive in their personal and educational lives. Dr. Alston is also passionate about working to enhance equity in education and working to enhance the academic achievement, school success and professional success that all students; especially African American males and students of color experience. Dr. Alston has presented her work at local, regional and national conferences. In addition, Dr. Alston also has extensive experience working as a consultant, conducting workshops and teaching in her area of expertise.
