Brandon Christopher Colvin is a Detroit-based creator and owner of CANVASxDetroit, an arts engagement platform dedicated to developing art-based solutions to social and civic issues. A former pro-business lobbyist, Brandon hung up his wingtips and suits in exchange for paint and brushes and moved to Detroit. After graduating from Detroit's BUILD Entrepreneurship Institute, Brandon launched CANVASxDetroit’s first location on Woodward Avenue in the heart of downtown Detroit, offering painting classes, art exhibitions, installation work, and creative workshops for professionals. 

Brandon is a 2015 Knight Arts Challenge winner, a 2016 Knight Arts Challenge Finalist, and has worked on creative projects with Henry Ford Foundation, the Public Broadcasting Service, the University of Michigan, the Detroit Institute of Art, the University of Detroit Mercy, and MOCAD (Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit). Brandon is also a member of The News Leadership Council, a Ford Man of Courage, and a Henry Ford Learning Institute mentor. 

In 2016, Brandon co-founded MASH Detroit, a 6,000 square foot mixed-use community space designed to promote authentic engagement across racial, cultural, and geographical boundaries. In his spare time, Brandon teaches entrepreneurship and social media marketing classes for adults.
