About Boston

With a score of 83 out of 100 points, Boston has affirmed under its current Mayor, Martin J. Walsh, a commitment to improve life outcomes for Black men and boys. Leading off with a further endorsement and support of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper, Walsh in 2016 committed resources to the initiative and appointed the first director to oversee the city’s My Brother’s Keeper efforts.

The Mayor also commissioned Root Cause - a trusted partner to the Campaign for Black Male Achievement for over six years - to produce a new report “Mapping Momentum for Boston’s Youth: Programs & Opportunities for Black and Latino Young Men. In addition, to the city’s commitment, organizations, local leaders and foundations in the city have consistently worked to advance Black Male Achievement and ensure better life outcomes for Black men and boys.
